When Words Heal: Inside Divyaa Sood’s Literary and Personal Journey

Some journeys begin with a plan. Others begin quietly, in the margins of college notebooks, in moments of solitude, and in emotions that don’t always find a voice. Divyaa Sood’s story belongs to the latter.

Her relationship with writing started during her college years, not as ambition, but as refuge. Writing became the place where unspoken feelings could breathe—where emotions she couldn’t say aloud found shape on paper. At first, it was personal and private. But as life unfolded—with its lessons, struggles, responsibilities, and small triumphs—her words began to deepen. Experience gave her poetry a pulse.

The turning point came with a simple yet powerful realization: poetry doesn’t just express—it heals. For Divyaa, writing became more than creativity; it became therapy. Each poem helped her understand herself better, navigate difficult phases, and quietly connect with others who felt deeply but spoke little. Publishing her work felt like a natural progression—transforming a lifelong passion into a purpose. In September this year, that purpose took form with the publication of her first poetry book, marking the beginning of her professional writing journey.

But the path was never smooth. Balancing family responsibilities, homemaking, and motherhood while holding on to a creative dream often felt like walking a tightrope. There were days when time slipped away, energy ran low, and self-doubt grew loud. She questioned her voice, wondered if her words mattered, and struggled with the constant juggle of being a homemaker while nurturing an inner calling.

What carried her through was persistence—and a quiet, unwavering belief that her story deserved space too.

Writing became her anchor. In moments of exhaustion and uncertainty, poetry pulled her back, line by line. Each piece she wrote helped her step out of a difficult moment and move toward a stronger version of herself. With the support of her loved ones and her own determination, she turned struggles into verses, and verses into purpose.

One of her greatest challenges was finding balance—between home and ambition, responsibility and creativity. There were moments when inspiration felt blocked and self-doubt overshadowed confidence. Yet, Divyaa chose consistency over perfection. She wrote in pockets of quiet time, reminded herself why she started, and allowed passion to guide her instead of fear. She embraced patience, knowing that growth doesn’t need to be fast—only steady. Those very challenges shaped her into a more resilient, focused writer.

Her journey has been marked by meaningful milestones. Winning the Emily Dickinson Award (Trophy) validated her voice and strengthened her confidence as a poet. Publishing two poetry books—Things I Never Said It Loud and In and Beyond the Olive Sky—stands as deeply personal achievements. Transitioning from private writing to becoming a published author is a step she cherishes, as is building a genuine reader community that connects with her words and responds with honesty and emotion. And above all, balancing creativity with homemaking and motherhood remains an achievement she holds close to her heart.

Looking ahead, Divyaa envisions continued growth. She hopes to publish more books that resonate deeply, refine her craft, explore new themes, and build a stronger presence in the literary space. More than success, she seeks impact—to inspire others, especially women, to embrace their voice, their journey, and their right to dream.

Because for Divyaa Sood, writing is not just about words on a page.

It is about healing, resilience, and the courage to make space for one’s own story.
