Dr. Sagorika Mullick: A Journey from Healing Others to Healing Herself
Born into a humble middle-class family, Dr. Sagorika Mullick grew up in a home where education wasn’t just encouraged—it was sacred. Her parents believed that knowledge was the one inheritance no one could ever take away, and that belief became the cornerstone of her life. When she secured admission to Grant Medical College and Sir J. J. Group of Hospitals, Mumbai, in 1984, it marked the beginning of a lifelong journey driven by purpose, compassion, and perseverance.

But life, as it often does, had lessons of its own.
In 1988, tragedy struck—Dr. Mullick lost her father in the midst of her medical education. The loss could have derailed her dreams, yet it became the defining chapter of her strength. Her mother, with quiet courage and unyielding resilience, ensured that Sagorika continued her studies despite the emotional and financial turbulence. “Watching her navigate loss with grace taught me that setbacks don’t define us—our response to them does,” she reflects.
In 1989, she completed her medical degree, carrying her father’s dreams and her mother’s spirit forward.
Marriage in 1990 brought new responsibilities, and motherhood followed in 1992 with the birth of her son. Just months after becoming a mother, she returned to pursue her postgraduate studies, juggling sleepless nights, demanding coursework, and the tender chaos of early motherhood. When she graduated with distinction in 1995, it wasn’t just a degree—it was a story of grit and grace personified.
The move to Bangalore in 1999 became a turning point. Starting afresh in a new city, with no professional network and no knowledge of the local language, Dr. Mullick once again rose to the challenge. “I began at level zero,” she says, “but I learned the language because I wanted my patients to feel heard.”
In 2005, she launched her first entrepreneurial venture—an act both exhilarating and daunting. The experience of building something from scratch, leading teams, and later heading departments in medical colleges deepened her understanding of healthcare delivery and leadership. A decade later, in 2016, she founded her own medical practice—a dream realized through perseverance and a passion for healing.
“My purpose evolved over the years,” she explains. “Medicine isn’t just about prescribing medicines—it’s about understanding the whole person: their struggles, their lifestyle, their dreams.”
Life, however, wasn’t done testing her strength. In February 2024, Dr. Mullick faced the most devastating loss of all—her life partner passed away. “That loss could have shattered me,” she admits. “Instead, I chose to honor his memory by living fully, working purposefully, and inspiring others through resilience.”
At the age of 58, she did something extraordinary—she stepped onto the Mrs. India pageant stage and won the title of “Beyond Eternal Charm.” The experience, she says, was liberating. “I wanted to prove that beauty isn’t defined by age and that dreams don’t have a shelf life.”
Each chapter of her life—marked by personal loss, professional evolution, and unwavering determination—refined her spirit, “like fire refines gold.”
Among her many accolades, Dr. Mullick treasures the moments when adversity turned into opportunity. Completing postgraduate studies with distinction while caring for an infant. Rebuilding her career from scratch in a new city. Watching her patients transform their health through lifestyle changes.
“These are my true rewards,” she says with a smile. “When I see hope return to someone’s eyes, it reaffirms why I chose this path.”
Her professional excellence hasn’t gone unnoticed. In recognition of her contributions to family medicine, women’s health, and healthcare leadership, she has received several honors, including a nomination for the Healthcare Excellence Award at an international conference in Dubai, celebrating innovation and service in medicine—an honor she’ll receive in December 2025.
Dr. Mullick’s next chapter is one of impact and inspiration. She envisions expanding her initiative, “Misorah Health and Happiness Hub,” into a comprehensive women’s wellness ecosystem—a community that empowers women through preventive care, holistic well-being, and lifestyle awareness.
She’s also passionate about growing her YouTube podcast, “The Health Talk with Dr. Sagorika,” into a powerful platform for healthcare education. “Healthcare literacy is a crisis, especially among women who prioritize everyone else’s health over their own,” she says. “I want to change that narrative.”
Beyond her medical practice, Dr. Mullick sees herself as a mentor to the next generation of women physicians and entrepreneurs, sharing lessons learned from a life lived with courage and conviction.
“The Mrs. India platform taught me that visibility has power,” she reflects. “Now, I want to use that visibility to advocate for women’s health, lifestyle disease prevention, and the celebration of midlife potential.”
As Dr. Sagorika Mullick continues to heal, teach, and inspire, she embodies a truth often forgotten in the rush of life—that every challenge carries the seed of transformation.
“I see myself as a bridge,” she says thoughtfully. “Connecting medical expertise with compassionate care, traditional practice with modern outreach, and proving that our 50s and beyond can be our most powerful, purposeful, and pioneering years.”
And as her story unfolds, it becomes clear: her journey isn’t just about medicine—it’s about the art of living with heart, healing with purpose, and rising, again and again, with unshakable grace.
