From Survival to Skydiving: The Inspiring Journey of Geetika Wahi

There are some journeys that begin with ambition, and then there are journeys that begin with circumstance—quietly, unexpectedly, without any grand plan. Geetika Wahi’s story belongs to the latter. Yet what makes her remarkable is not where she began, but the way she kept moving forward through every uncertainty life placed before her.

For close to two decades, Geetika has built her career in Business Development within the demanding world of security and risk consulting. It is an industry that constantly tests endurance, confidence, and clarity under pressure. Over the years, what began as a career transition slowly became an extension of her identity.

Persistent. Adaptable. Grounded.

These are not words she merely speaks about—they are qualities life carved into her journey.

But the truth is, none of it was planned.

Geetika originally trained to become a programmer and even secured an opportunity with American Express. At the time, however, night shifts were not something her family felt comfortable with, and the opportunity slipped away before it could truly begin.

Instead, she started working as a computer operator. It was a modest beginning, far removed from the leadership-driven professional space she would later thrive in. Yet life often reveals direction in the most unexpected moments.

One day, she accompanied her manager to a client meeting. Something about the interaction felt natural. She connected effortlessly, understood the client’s concerns, and eventually helped close a major deal. That single moment changed everything.

Her organization recognized a strength in her that she had not yet fully recognized in herself, and soon she was moved into Business Development.

Yet if Geetika traces the roots of her strength, she always returns to one person—her mother.

Raised in an environment where girls were not encouraged to study, her mother still chose to challenge expectations and become a teacher. She built her own identity with quiet dignity and determination. Watching her mother stand on her own feet shaped Geetika’s understanding of independence long before life demanded it from her.

From her, she learned one lesson that would later become the foundation of her survival: life may not always offer ideal conditions, but giving up is still a choice.

And then came the years that tested that belief.

There was a point in Geetika’s life when ambition became secondary to survival. She was navigating a divorce, rebuilding her life from scratch, and raising a young child alone. There was little room for emotional collapse because responsibility did not pause.

Every day required strength—even on days when she had none left to give.

At the same time, she continued working in a high-pressure industry that rarely slows down for personal pain. She had to prove herself repeatedly in a space where credibility had to be earned consistently.

Then life struck again.

In 2018, she lost her brother to cancer. Soon after came the losses and uncertainty brought by the pandemic. Those moments changed her deeply. Grief stripped life down to its barest truths and forced her to confront a painful question:

Was she truly living, or merely surviving?

For a long time, the answer was survival.

Then came a turning point she never expected.

One day, she finally asked herself a question she had ignored for years—What about me?

Surprisingly, the person who pushed her toward that answer was her son. Once the child she guided, he gradually became her strength. He encouraged her to step beyond the life she had settled into and begin living for herself again.

In 2021, Geetika learned how to ride a bike.

To many, it may sound like a small milestone. For her, it was transformational. Beneath the fear and hesitation was something much larger than learning balance on two wheels—it was about reclaiming her confidence, her identity, and the parts of herself she had silenced for years.

That moment changed her relationship with fear.

And life tested that courage almost immediately.

She went through two serious accidents while riding—tearing her ACL in one and sustaining a fractured nose along with multiple injuries in another. Those experiences could easily have pushed her away from the road forever.

But Geetika chose differently.

She chose to heal.

She chose to continue.

She chose to get back on the bike.

And somewhere along the way, she fulfilled one of her biggest childhood dreams—skydiving.

For her, adventure stopped being about thrill. It became proof that fear does not disappear; you simply learn not to let it decide your future.

Today, Geetika continues to grow professionally while contributing to initiatives that matter deeply to her. Through her involvement with ASIS and Women in Security initiatives, she has worked toward creating awareness, inclusion, and empowerment for others within the industry.

Yet success, for her, is no longer measured only through professional milestones.

It is measured through freedom.

Through rediscovery.

Through courage repeated over and over again.

She dreams of building something of her own around travel and biking—creating experiences that connect people while also giving back meaningfully to society. She hopes to continue supporting causes that empower women to find their voices and reclaim their confidence.

Because at some point, success becomes less about personal achievement and more about what you make possible for others.

Today, Geetika carries many accomplishments with quiet pride: rebuilding her life independently, raising her son, thriving in a demanding industry, rebuilding her identity after personal loss, and being recognized as “Woman Icon of the Year.”

But perhaps her greatest achievement is far simpler.

She never stopped moving forward.

Through heartbreak.

Through grief.

Through fear.

Through every beginning that demanded she start again.

And maybe that is the most powerful kind of strength—the kind that does not announce itself loudly, but shows up consistently, even after life has tried to break it.

Because Geetika Wahi’s story is not just about success.

It is about rediscovering yourself after losing pieces of who you once were.

And in that rediscovery, finding a life that finally feels like your own.
