From Doctor to Cake Artist: The Extraordinary Journey of Jasneet Matharoo
Sometimes, a new chapter does not begin with a carefully planned career move. Sometimes, it begins with a child’s school competition, a homemade cake, and a mother simply wanting to make something special.
For Jasneet Matharoo, that moment came when her younger daughter participated in a healthy tiffin competition. Jasneet decided to bake something that was both delicious and nutritious-a healthy apple cake made with wheat flour. What began as a mother’s thoughtful effort soon became an unexpected turning point.
Her daughter won first position.
And with that little victory, something changed for Jasneet too.
What started in her home kitchen gradually transformed into a creative pursuit, eventually leading to the birth and growth of Lucklicious, her cake-making venture.
When Motherhood Changed the Direction of Her Life
Before stepping into the world of baking, Jasneet had built her career as a doctor. But life presented her with a choice that demanded more than professional ambition.
She had to choose between continuing her clinic and being there for her children.
For Jasneet, the answer was clear.
Her daughters came first.
Her medical career came to a complete halt, and the transition was not easy. Walking away from a profession she had worked hard to build naturally affected her emotionally. Yet, what initially felt like an ending would eventually become the beginning of an entirely different journey.
Baking gave her a new creative identity-one that allowed her to combine precision, imagination and the joy of creating something with her own hands.
Turning a Quiet Phase into a Learning Opportunity
Like every entrepreneurial journey, Jasneet’s path with Lucklicious was not always filled with orders and opportunities.
There came a phase when the orders stopped.
For many, such a period could bring self-doubt. Jasneet chose a different response.
Instead of questioning her ability, she chose to improve it.
She invested her time in learning, attending classes and keeping herself updated with the latest techniques, materials and developments in cake making. Every new skill added another layer to her craft.
The quiet periods became learning periods.
And the learning eventually became the foundation for something bigger.
When Passion Found Its Own Stage
Jasneet’s dedication gradually took her beyond personal celebrations and home-based creations. Her work began reaching prominent personalities and platforms, giving Lucklicious a growing presence in the world of professional cake artistry.
Among her notable experiences, she has had the opportunity to create a cake for the Chief Minister of Punjab.
Her journey has also taken her to television, where she appeared on a TV show with Shah Rukh Khan, as well as programs featuring renowned culinary personality Sanjeev Kapoor and Manish Paul, and another television appearance with Ravi Dubey.
She has also created a cake for the grandson of a renowned lyricist from the Punjabi film industry.
These experiences represent more than individual milestones. They reflect how a passion that began with a cake for her daughter gradually found its way onto much larger platforms.
From Creating Cakes to Judging Talent
Jasneet’s expertise eventually earned her another important role—one where she was no longer simply creating cakes, but evaluating the creativity and skills of others.
She has served as the sole jury for cake making at the Stars of Dentistry and on an All India platform, marking another significant step in her journey.
It is a meaningful evolution—from learning the craft herself to becoming someone trusted to judge it.
A Journey Shaped by Two Girls and One Big Dream
At the heart of Jasneet’s story are her two daughters.
The same children who once shaped one of the biggest decisions of her life also became an important source of inspiration behind the path she eventually chose.
Her journey is a reminder that motherhood does not necessarily mean the end of ambition. Sometimes, it can lead a person toward a completely different expression of their abilities.
Today, Jasneet looks ahead with a clear vision.
She wants to take Lucklicious to greater heights, build an even stronger identity for her work and continue creating a fulfilling life alongside her two girls and her beloved dog, Leo.
From a healthy apple wheat-flour cake baked for her daughter to cakes created for celebrated personalities and appearances on television, Jasneet Matharoo’s journey has been anything but ordinary.
She did not plan this career.
She discovered it.
And perhaps that is what makes her story so special-a reminder that sometimes, the most meaningful professional chapters begin quietly, right at home, with love, curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
