One Life, Many Passions: The Journey of Mahek Phulwani
It didn’t begin with a grand plan or a carefully designed roadmap. For Mahek Phulwani, the journey started with something far simpler yet far more powerful—curiosity. A quiet, consistent urge to do more, learn more, and become more with the time she had.
Over the years, Mahek has worn many hats with remarkable grace—risk manager, mother, caregiver, teacher, baker, and a lifelong learner who finds joy in creating. But rather than seeing these roles as separate compartments, she discovered a deeper truth: life doesn’t divide us into roles; it blends them into one continuous, evolving experience.
What inspired her most was the idea that one life is enough to hold many passions. You don’t have to choose a single path—you can design a life that accommodates all the things you love, provided you approach it with intention and discipline.
Her mindset, however, was shaped much earlier. During her days in NCC and her mountaineering training, Mahek encountered challenges that pushed her far beyond her comfort zone. Those experiences instilled in her a strong sense of leadership, mental strength, and the courage to face uncertainty. They taught her that limits are often self-created—and can be overcome with the right mindset.
She lives by a simple yet profound philosophy: we all have the same 24 hours, but how fully we live them is our choice. Instead of trying to control time, she focuses on expanding what she can achieve within it—by staying curious, purposeful, and open to new challenges.
“You don’t need multiple lives to follow multiple passions—you just need the courage to live one life fully.”
“Challenges don’t break you—they reveal the strength you didn’t know you had.”
Yet, behind this composed outlook lies a journey marked by real challenges. A career in risk management demands constant focus, sharp decision-making, and the ability to perform under pressure. At the same time, her personal life required equal commitment—raising children, caring for elders, and managing a household where many depended on her.
There were moments when the weight of these responsibilities felt overwhelming. The real challenge wasn’t just the workload—it was the inner expectation to excel in every role without compromise.
What helped Mahek move forward was not perfection, but perspective. She realised that balance is not about doing everything flawlessly every day. Instead, it is about being present where you are needed the most in that moment. Her early training once again became her anchor—reminding her that in difficult terrain, clarity matters more than panic.
With time, she developed the ability to prioritise, remain calm under pressure, and focus on solutions. These qualities not only helped her navigate challenging phases but also shaped her into a stronger leader and individual.
Looking back, she acknowledges that it was the difficult moments—not the easy ones—that truly built her strength and perspective.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mahek’s journey is rich with meaningful milestones. From being recognised as a Best Cadet and Gold Medalist during her NCC and mountaineering days, to building a successful career spanning over two decades in risk management, her path reflects dedication and continuous growth.
Equally significant is her ability to balance multiple roles while staying connected to her passions. Whether it’s mentoring young minds through teaching night school students or expressing creativity through baking and art, she has consistently created space for both purpose and joy.
For Mahek, achievements are not defined by titles alone. They are measured by growth, impact, and the ability to lead a life that feels both meaningful and fulfilling.
Looking ahead, her vision remains deeply rooted in growth and contribution. She aims to continue evolving in her professional field, helping organisations build stronger and more responsible systems. At the same time, she is passionate about mentoring and guiding others—sharing her experiences to help people build confidence and practical life skills.
Her journey stands as a powerful reminder that life does not demand limitation—it invites expansion. That with clarity, discipline, and courage, it is possible to create a life that is not just successful, but truly complete.
Because sometimes, the most extraordinary stories are not about choosing one path—but about having the courage to walk many, all at once.
