Pavana Suresh: The Young Entrepreneur Making Learning Accessible Beyond Boundaries

At just 21, while many young people are still figuring out the direction they want their lives to take, Pavana Suresh had already made a decision that would shape her journey ahead. She wanted to build something of her own- something that could make learning accessible to people regardless of where they lived, their age, financial circumstances or social limitations.

With seven years of experience in the education field and two years of building her own institute, Pavana's journey is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: learning should never be limited by geography, finances, age or circumstances.

Her vision eventually gave birth to UBHARNA, a learning platform created to make education and skill development more convenient and accessible through online learning.

When Accessibility Became a Mission

Pavana's idea for UBHARNA emerged from what she observed around her.

Children and adults living in rural areas often lacked access to quality dance, music, tutoring and other learning opportunities that were easily available in cities. At the same time, she noticed a similar gap among Indians living abroad. Many carried a deep love for Indian performing arts but struggled to find suitable classes in their local communities.

Then there was another reality-the changing lifestyle of modern families.

For many working parents, especially those who return home late in the evening, taking children to extracurricular or tutoring classes can become difficult. Online learning offered a practical alternative, allowing children to learn from home without making their parents manage additional travel and schedules.

But Pavana saw accessibility as more than a geographical or logistical issue.

She also noticed that many women still face restrictions when they want to work, learn music or dance, or simply pursue interests of their own. In some families, women stepping outside the home to pursue such interests can still be discouraged.

Online learning opened another door.

Through her classes, Pavana saw women in their 40s and beyond rediscovering their passion for dance and music from the comfort of their homes. For her, these experiences demonstrated the real meaning of accessibility-giving people the freedom to learn when and where circumstances allow.

She also understood that many Indian families naturally place academics ahead of performing arts, while the cost of quality classes can become another barrier.

Pavana wanted to create a platform where people could continue learning, discover their interests and develop new skills without having to compromise because of their circumstances.

That vision became UBHARNA.

Building UBHARNA from the Ground Up

Pavana started UBHARNA at the age of 21 without financial backing, external investment or institutional support.

There was no large team behind her and no established system waiting to guide her. She had to build the initiative from the ground up through her own efforts.

The early days were far from easy.

For the entire first year, UBHARNA had just two students and one teacher. After expenses, the institute was left with barely ₹200 a month in revenue.

The challenge wasn't a lack of passion. Pavana knew what she wanted to create. What she didn't know was how to market her courses, reach the right audience and make people aware that UBHARNA existed.

Instead of allowing that gap in knowledge to stop her, she decided to learn.

She invested almost all her earnings into a marketing and sales course that was expensive for her at the time. It was a difficult financial decision, but Pavana viewed learning as an investment in herself.

She completed the course and immediately began applying what she had learned.

Slowly, the results started appearing.

More people began discovering UBHARNA. Enquiries increased. Admissions followed.

Within the following year, the platform grew from just two students to a community of 100+ students and 15+ teachers.

For Pavana, this transformation reinforced an important lesson: when you don't have the resources or knowledge to solve a problem, you can choose to learn instead of giving up.

When Dreams Were Put to the Test

Some of Pavana's biggest challenges did not come from running a business. They came from trying to protect her ambitions while dealing with societal and family expectations.

As marriage proposals began coming in, she encountered situations where her entrepreneurial journey was expected to end after marriage. Some alliances expected her to shut down UBHARNA, stop working and focus entirely on household responsibilities and managing family businesses.

At one point, even her father wondered whether she should give up the business because a particular alliance was well settled and, from his perspective, offered financial security.

But Pavana could not imagine abandoning something she had built from nothing.

She had started UBHARNA at 21. She had nurtured it through its difficult first year, learned new skills, faced uncertainty and continued working when the numbers were barely encouraging.

She often describes UBHARNA as her first child.

Walking away from it simply wasn't something she was prepared to do.

Her mother became a strong source of support during that phase and gave Pavana the confidence to stand by her decision.

Pavana chose to walk away from situations where her dreams and ambitions were not respected. For her, a relationship should not require a woman to abandon her career or identity.

She believes that a supportive partner should respect a woman's aspirations and encourage her growth.

Today, her father's perspective has changed too. After witnessing how far UBHARNA has come, he stands beside Pavana and supports her efforts to continue building it.

That change holds a special place in her journey.

The experience taught Pavana that standing up for yourself may not always be easy, but sometimes it is necessary when you know what kind of life you want to build.

Learning, Growth and the Power of Investing in Yourself

Pavana's entrepreneurial journey has also been a journey of continuous learning.

The early struggle of UBHARNA taught her that passion alone cannot build a sustainable venture. Skills, knowledge and the willingness to adapt are equally important.

Her decision to invest in marketing and sales training became an important turning point.

She didn't simply complete a course and move on. She applied what she learned, experimented with new approaches and used that knowledge to build awareness around UBHARNA.

The result was a significant shift-from an institute with two students to a growing learning community of more than 100 students and 15+ teachers.

Her journey also reflects her broader work as a Spoken English, Personality Development and Communication Coach.

Through her training, Pavana has helped people overcome communication barriers, develop confidence and prepare themselves for professional opportunities.

For her, the most rewarding part is not simply teaching a skill. It is seeing someone become more confident and move closer to the career they aspire to build.

Milestones That Carry Meaning

Pavana's journey has already given her several milestones that she holds close to her heart.

One of the earliest was receiving the Young Teacher Award at the age of 21. The recognition gave her confidence that her work in education was creating meaningful value.

Becoming an entrepreneur at the same age was another defining milestone. Building UBHARNA without external financial support and seeing it grow into a community of learners and educators remains one of her proudest achievements.

But Pavana's definition of achievement extends beyond professional milestones.

She takes pride in every opportunity she has had to help people and animals in need. Even small acts of support matter to her, and she hopes to continue contributing wherever she can.

Empowering women is another part of her journey that holds particular significance.

Through UBHARNA, she wants to create opportunities for women to become financially independent, develop professional identities and build careers of their own.

And through her communication and personality development training, she has been able to help people build confidence and prepare for better professional opportunities.

For Pavana, these moments are reminders that the work she is doing can create an impact beyond a business.

The Road Ahead

Pavana's vision for UBHARNA extends far beyond its current scale.

She wants to establish offline learning spaces across major metropolitan cities in India, while continuing to use online education to reach students across different locations.

Her larger dream is to make learning even more accessible.

She hopes to build UBHARNA to a stage where students who are passionate about learning but cannot afford quality classes can receive free or highly affordable opportunities.

Another important part of her future plans is creating employment opportunities for more women and helping them achieve financial independence.

But her ambitions do not stop at entrepreneurship.

Pavana has always carried a desire to contribute to society through social service. In the long term, she dreams of starting an NGO and expanding her work beyond education and business into a larger social mission.

A Journey Built on Possibility

Pavana Suresh's story is ultimately about refusing to let circumstances define the limits of learning-or the limits of a dream.

She began with two students, one teacher and barely ₹200 left after expenses. She had no external investment and had to learn the business side of her vision along the way.

She faced questions about whether her entrepreneurial journey should continue after marriage. She faced the uncertainty of building something without financial backing. And she had to teach herself how to reach the very people she wanted to serve.

Yet she continued.

Today, UBHARNA represents more than a learning platform for Pavana. It represents an idea she has spent years building-a world where someone in a rural area can access learning, where an Indian living abroad can reconnect with performing arts, where a working parent can support a child's education from home, and where a woman can rediscover a passion she once thought she had to leave behind.

Her journey is still unfolding.

And the vision remains clear: to make learning more accessible, create opportunities for others, empower women and eventually build a larger platform for social impact.

For Pavana Suresh, entrepreneurship was never simply about building a business.

It was about seeing a gap-and choosing to build a bridge.
