Salomi Mukherjee: A Beautiful Balance of Culture and Confidence

Born and brought up in the heart of Kolkata, Salomi Mukherjee grew up surrounded by culture, color, and creativity. In 2005, she moved to the United States, carrying her Indian roots with pride. Though she embraced a new life abroad, she never let go of her traditions — instead, she blended them beautifully with a modern, global outlook.

Salomi’s journey into the world of beauty began with a passion for transformation — not just on the outside, but from within. As a licensed cosmetologist, she worked with some of the biggest names in the beauty world like Ulta, JCPenney, and Shiseido Cosmetics. Her natural sense of style, attention to detail, and warm personality quickly made her stand out.

But Salomi’s story doesn’t stop at beauty counters. She soon found herself stepping onto fashion runways, walking with confidence and poise. From Dallas Fashion Week to New York Fashion Week, she represented Gemini Hues by Neha Goel, leaving audiences mesmerized. She’s also had the honor of sharing the stage with some of Bollywood’s most loved names — Shehnaaz Gill, Manisha Koirala, Mallika Sherawat, and Hrithik Roshan — in stunning fashion shows by designers like Hira Malik and Neha Goel.

Alongside her modeling and beauty career, Salomi followed another passion — event decoration and styling. What started as a creative outlet soon became a thriving business. Whether it’s a cozy traditional Garba night or a grand celebrity event like Falguni Pathak’s Garba, her work always carries a personal touch. Every setup she designs tells a story, filled with emotion, energy, and elegance.

Life in a new country came with its challenges. Being a brown-skinned woman in the U.S. wasn’t always easy. “At first, I did face some struggles,” Salomi shares. “But things started changing when I educated people about my culture and showed them where I came from. The more proudly I represented my roots, the more acceptance and love I received.”

Beyond her professional success, Salomi is deeply committed to giving back. She served as Chair of Grassroots Campaigns for the American Heart Association (AHA) and even represented the cause in Washington D.C., advocating for heart health awareness. She also finds joy in choreographing and directing local cultural shows, helping others showcase their talent and creativity.

Salomi’s achievements speak volumes — she’s a city crown winner of Mrs. India International 2013, a proud mother of two, and a model who has graced African Fashion Week, Dallas Fashion Week, and International Fashion Week.

Through every high and low, Salomi holds onto her belief that “Life throws us challenges, but with positivity and hard work, we can overcome anything.”

Looking ahead, her dream is to step into the world of television commercials, bringing her vibrant energy and charm to new audiences.
