The Soul Sakhi Journey: Sangita Chatterji Chanda’s Rise to Self-Discovery

In a world where women are often expected to give endlessly—to their families, careers, and responsibilities—few stories capture the quiet strength of rediscovery as deeply as that of Sangita Chatterji Chanda. Her journey is not just about professional success or personal milestones; it is about reclaiming identity, rewriting inner narratives, and rising with purpose.

With over 15 years of experience in corporates and multinational companies, Sangita built a career rooted in discipline, professionalism, and excellence. Specializing in client relationship management, back-office operations, and project management, she earned recognition for her sincerity and commitment. Alongside, she nurtured a parallel passion as a communication and personality enhancement trainer, helping individuals find their voice and confidence.

Raised in a simple middle-class Bengali family, Sangita grew up with values of independence and determination. Encouraged by progressive parents, she dreamt not just of academic success, but of financial independence—to support her father and carve out her own identity in the world.

Marriage at 28 marked the beginning of a new chapter, filled with hope and promise. But as years passed, the realities of balancing professional responsibilities, personal expectations, and societal roles began to weigh heavily. Adjusting to a new household, navigating relationships, and silently managing compromises—both personal and professional—became part of her daily life.

Despite a successful corporate journey, there came a time when Sangita found herself emotionally drained. Burnout, inner emptiness, and a gradual loss of self-confidence led her to a place many women quietly reach but rarely speak about—the feeling of losing oneself.

Choosing courage over comfort, she stepped away to rebuild. Living independently and restarting her career helped her reconnect with fragments of the confidence she once held. Life offered her another chance—not just in her marriage, but in motherhood. The decision to adopt her daughter became one of the most profound blessings of her life.

She poured her heart into raising her child. Yet, as her daughter grew more independent, a powerful realization surfaced—somewhere along the way, Sangita had become “just mamma,” losing her professional identity and financial independence.

That moment became her turning point.

Determined to begin again, she stepped into the world of part-time work as a spoken English coach. Soon after, an unexpected opportunity knocked—participation in Mrs. India International Queen. What began as a small step transformed into a life-altering experience. The crown, the recognition, and the stage reignited a confidence she had buried for years. Winning the title of “Mrs Impressive” in 2025 was not just an achievement—it was a statement of self-belief.

But Sangita’s transformation was not only external. Her deepest battles were within.

Years of conditioning had taught her to prioritize others over herself, to accept silently, to suppress her dreams in the name of duty. Breaking free from limiting beliefs, overthinking, and self-doubt required immense inner work. She had to confront uncomfortable truths, set boundaries, and redefine her worth—not as a role, but as an individual.

Through that journey, she discovered a powerful truth: the strongest barriers are often invisible—and so is our strength.

Today, Sangita steps into her purpose as a life coach, embracing the role of a “Soul Sakhi”—a companion who listens without judgment, holds space, and gently guides women back to themselves. Her mission is deeply personal: to support women who feel lost, unheard, or confined by self-doubt, and help them rediscover their inner strength and clarity.

She envisions creating nurturing spaces where women can grow through life’s transitions, break free from limiting beliefs, and courageously step into new dreams with confidence.

Her journey is marked by remarkable milestones—buying an apartment for her parents in Mumbai at the age of 28, continuing her education and earning certifications after 35, choosing adoption, and above all, building a life rooted in purpose and compassion.

For Sangita, success is no longer defined by titles alone, but by impact—the ability to uplift, guide, and inspire.

Her story reminds us that transformation doesn’t begin when life becomes perfect. It begins the moment we choose to see ourselves differently.

Because sometimes, all it takes is becoming your own Soul Sakhi first.
