Sheetal Bansal: From Motherhood to the Crown of Opera Mrs India Australia 2026

There are lives shaped by a single profession, and then there are lives defined by the courage to wear many hats. For Sheetal Bansal, the journey has been a beautiful blend of entrepreneurship, motherhood, creativity, community service and personal ambition. Based in Sydney, Sheetal has spent the past several years building a life that reflects one powerful belief: there is always room to dream again.

Today, she is a local business owner, an Australia Post Licensee, a volunteer, a teacher, a mother of four and, most recently, the winner of Opera Mrs India Australia 2026. Each chapter of her life has added another dimension to her story, proving that success does not always follow a straight path.

A Creative Spirit from the Beginning

Sheetal's entrepreneurial spirit began long before she entered the world of business ownership. While living in India, she explored her creativity by making and selling handmade products, including crochet bags, handmade cards and decorative envelopes. She would set up stalls to showcase her creations, discovering early on the joy of turning an idea into something tangible.

Her professional journey later took her through the banking and airline industries. But alongside her career, she always carried a desire to build something of her own and contribute to the community around her.

After moving to Sydney, life took a new direction. She settled into a new country, built a family and became a mother to four children. Motherhood brought immense joy, but it also demanded her time and attention. Yet Sheetal never allowed her creative ambitions to disappear.

She began conducting Bollywood dance workshops and creative arts sessions for primary school-aged children. Her interest in children's wellbeing led her to become a certified Kids Yoga teacher, after which she combined yoga and art to create creative yoga workshops for young children.

She also taught Bollywood dance at the IABBV Hindi School, an experience she credits as an important part of her journey, particularly under the guidance of Mala Mehta OAM.

Even while raising her children, Sheetal consistently found ways to volunteer at their schools and contribute to the wider community.

Building a Business Beyond Her Comfort Zone

When her twins—the third and fourth of her children—were born, Sheetal's responsibilities grew considerably. Yet she continued making space for her passion for teaching and working with children.

When the twins eventually started primary school, she felt it was time to take another major step.

That step was becoming an Australia Post Licensee.

With no previous experience in the field, Sheetal entered an entirely new business environment. The transition demanded extensive learning, long working hours and the willingness to step into unfamiliar territory.

The challenge was even greater because she was simultaneously managing a household and raising four children in Sydney without extended family nearby. Cooking, cleaning, laundry, gardening, school runs and extracurricular activities were all part of everyday life.

The first year of the business was particularly demanding.

But Sheetal did not face the journey alone. Her husband became an important pillar of support, helping with school drop-offs and pickups and taking on responsibilities at home, even learning to cook as Sheetal often returned home later than him during the early days of the business.

Her mother also travelled from India and stayed for several months to help support the family, allowing Sheetal to concentrate on establishing the business.

Looking back, Sheetal knows that the support of her family played a crucial role in helping her build this new chapter.

The Dream She Never Let Go

For Sheetal, entrepreneurship was only one dream that had remained alive through the years.

Since she was 18, she had wanted to participate in a pageant. During her college years, she had taken part in inter-college fashion shows and had always been fascinated by modelling and the world of pageantry.

But life had other plans.

After college, she entered the airline industry, later got married, moved to Sydney and became a mother of four. Her dream of participating in a pageant was gradually placed on the sidelines as family and professional responsibilities took priority.

Then, years later, Sheetal decided that it was time to revisit that dream.

She entered a pageant organised by Opera Events Media, stepping into an experience that pushed her beyond her familiar roles and challenged her in an entirely different way.

The result became one of the most memorable milestones of her life.

Sheetal Bansal was crowned Opera Mrs India Australia 2026.

For her, the crown represented far more than a pageant victory. It represented a dream that had waited patiently for its moment.

And the lesson was clear: it is never too late to pursue something you once dreamed about. But you have to take the first step yourself.

Turning Down the Noise

Throughout her journey, Sheetal has learned that hard work has no substitute.

Whether it is starting a business, teaching children, raising a family or taking on a completely new challenge, she believes that commitment has to come from within.

Her biggest challenge was not necessarily the responsibilities around her, but the doubts within her.

With four children, a home to manage, a business to run, dance and art classes to teach and volunteering commitments to fulfil, there were moments when she questioned whether she could take on anything more.

Instead of allowing those doubts to define her choices, she began focusing on what she could accomplish.

Sheetal believes in making the inner voice louder than the noise around you. For her, that inner voice kept repeating a simple message:

I know I can do this.

That belief became the foundation for her next chapter.

A Life Built Around Giving Back

Entrepreneurship and achievement have never been the only measures of success for Sheetal. Giving back to the community has remained an important part of her life.

In Sydney, she has volunteered with initiatives including the Sun Run, House to Grow and Trish Foundation. She has also volunteered as a Bollywood dance teacher in primary schools.

Her community involvement has allowed her to combine several of her passions—working with children, creativity, teaching and helping others.

She believes that time is one of life's most valuable resources, and how people choose to use that limited time can shape the life they ultimately create.

For Sheetal, that means continuing to learn, experiencing new things, stepping beyond familiar boundaries and contributing to the community, regardless of how big or small the contribution may seem.

Recognition Beyond the Crown

Sheetal's journey has also received recognition through several platforms.

She was featured in Hidden Stories: Faces of Our Community, an initiative by House to Grow CEO Pilar Lopez that highlighted people from diverse cultural backgrounds living in Sydney.

She has also been interviewed by SBS Hindi Radio and the Manly Observer, where she shared her journey as a mother and spoke about her teenage daughter, who was recognised among the NSW Ones to Watch in 2025.

Her story as a migrant to Sydney, including the challenges and achievements of building a new life, was also explored through a podcast interview on Voices@Alive 90.5 FM, hosted by Luisa Caroca Lucero on Conversando Con Luisa.

She was further featured in Pittwater Life, a local Australian magazine, for her journey as a new Australia Post Licensee and her community fundraising initiative celebrating 100 years of postal service in her local business area. The proceeds from that event were donated to the Trish Foundation.

These recognitions reflect not only Sheetal's professional journey but also her contribution to the community she has made her home.

Looking Ahead

Sheetal's story is far from complete.

She plans to continue growing her business while remaining actively involved in volunteering and working with children. At the same time, she hopes to continue developing herself and creating a deeper impact within the community.

Her ambition extends beyond personal success. She wants her journey to encourage other women to believe that motherhood, family responsibilities, entrepreneurship and personal dreams do not necessarily have to exist in separate worlds.

Sometimes, they can become different chapters of the same story.

From handmade crafts in India to dance and creative workshops in Sydney, from motherhood to business ownership, from volunteering to the pageant stage, Sheetal Bansal has continued to create space for every version of herself.

Her crown may be her newest achievement, but the real story lies in everything that came before it—the dreams she protected, the responsibilities she carried, the people who stood beside her and the courage to finally say, “I know I can do this.”

And perhaps that is the most inspiring lesson Sheetal leaves behind: dreams do not have an expiry date. Sometimes, they simply wait for the right moment—and the courage to begin.
