Sheetal Prajapati: From a Lockdown Experiment to an Award-Winning Cake Artist

Building a business from home, however, brought its own unique set of challenges.

Unlike commercial bakeries with dedicated workspaces, Sheetal's kitchen became both her workplace and the heart of her household. There were moments when she had to pause intricate cake decorations to answer the doorbell, welcome unexpected guests, or balance family meals alongside customer orders. While many entrepreneurs delegate household responsibilities, Sheetal preferred preparing meals herself because she believes healthy cooking requires personal attention. Managing two demanding roles—homemaker and entrepreneur—required discipline more than anything else.

Every day begins with careful planning. Early mornings allow her to organize baking schedules before household responsibilities take over. While weekends are when families gather to celebrate birthdays and special occasions, they are also the busiest days for a baker. At the same time, these are the only days when her own family is together. To strike a balance, Sheetal often works late into the night or begins her day before sunrise so she can spend meaningful time with her loved ones. On occasions when even sleepless nights are not enough, she chooses to delegate household responsibilities rather than compromise the quality of her creations. Recently, hiring additional household help has enabled her to devote greater attention to expanding her business while maintaining harmony at home.

Her dedication to the craft has earned recognition on prestigious national and international platforms.

Sheetal proudly received the Asia Cake Oscars 2026, held in Sri Lanka, in the Master Whipped Cream Birthday Cake (Advanced Category). She also won a Gold Medal in the Cake Display Competition at the International Edition of the Sri Lanka Cake Awards. Her growing reputation has further been acknowledged through the India's Top 100 Home Bakers Award, the Mumbai's Top 25 Home Baker Award, and the distinguished title of Mega Winner in the PowerInHer Home Bakers Contest, where she emerged as the winner among all category champions.

These accomplishments represent years of consistency, creativity, and countless hours spent perfecting every design that leaves her kitchen.

Looking ahead, Sheetal envisions a future far bigger than a home kitchen. She dreams of establishing her own professional cake studio—a dedicated creative space where she can expand her operations, build a talented team, and serve more customers with the same personal touch that made her business successful.
