Shilpi Gupta: Reviving Nature’s Wisdom Through CureitHerb

For Shilpi Gupta, the journey towards entrepreneurship began with something deeply familiar: the traditional remedies, natural ingredients, and everyday wellness practices passed down through generations. As a homemaker and mother of two daughters, she had always been drawn to natural skincare, haircare, and simple home remedies. Much of this interest came from the wisdom she had grown up with, inspired by the practices of mothers and grandmothers who relied on nature to care for their families.

However, it was during the COVID-19 pandemic that this lifelong interest began to take a new direction. What started as a small effort to grow medicinal plants and share their traditional uses gradually developed into an entrepreneurial vision. That vision eventually became CureitHerb, a brand built around natural ingredients, traditional knowledge, and the idea of making wholesome living more accessible.

When a Simple Act Planted the Seed of Entrepreneurship

Shilpi’s father has always been deeply interested in herbs, medicinal plants, and their traditional uses. During the pandemic, he encouraged her to grow medicinal trees on their farm, including the Adulsa plant. He also suggested that she share Adulsa leaves with people seeking traditional herbal support for respiratory concerns during that difficult period.

For Shilpi, the experience became much more than an opportunity to help others. It opened her eyes to the value of nature’s resources and the wealth of traditional knowledge that often remains overlooked in modern lifestyles.

She began to recognise that many familiar remedies and ingredients from Indian households were gradually disappearing from everyday use. The thought of bringing them back in convenient, accessible forms stayed with her and eventually inspired the creation of CureitHerb.

The brand’s first product, Kanth Relief, was developed using Adulsa leaves, traditional kitchen herbs, and honey sourced from Himachal Pradesh. It was followed by Ja Ka Jiri, a herbal blend made with jamun seed powder, dehydrated karela, methi, ajwain, and kali jeeri, drawing inspiration from traditional approaches to gut and metabolic wellness.

As the journey progressed, CureitHerb expanded beyond herbal products into natural skincare, haircare, and wholesome foods. Shilpi wanted to recreate the goodness of the simple ingredients and preparations she remembered from her childhood, the kind of things her Nani and Dadi would lovingly prepare at home.

Amla Sudha, made using gooseberries grown on her own farm, brought back the traditional amla preserve. Gulkand, prepared with roses and dhagewali mishri, reflected the simplicity of traditional recipes. She also introduced more contemporary treats, including amaranth chocolates and dark chocolate peanut butter, because she believes that wholesome living should leave room for enjoyment, too.

Through every product, Shilpi aims to bring together traditional knowledge, natural ingredients, and the convenience people seek in their modern lives.

The Woman Who Became a Beginner Again at 45

Starting a business was far from easy for Shilpi. Coming from a traditional joint family with nearly 30 extended family members living together, she had to make a significant personal decision when she chose to become an entrepreneur. Not everyone initially supported her plans, but her immediate family stood by her. Her husband, mother-in-law, and immediate brother-in-law encouraged her to take the first step.

The biggest challenge, however, was not making the products. It was learning how to turn them into a sustainable business.

Shilpi understood the ingredients and the preparation process, but entrepreneurship introduced an entirely new set of responsibilities. She had to learn packaging, branding, marketing, pricing, raw-material procurement, production planning, and sales. She also discovered that preparing something for a few people was very different from producing it in larger quantities while maintaining consistency and managing costs.

Every decision required learning, from calculating the right quantities and setting prices to communicating the value of a product to potential customers.

And she was beginning this journey at the age of 45.

At a stage when many people might hesitate to step into an unfamiliar field, Shilpi chose to learn from the ground up. She began exploring Instagram marketing, meeting new people, participating in exhibitions and events, and interacting directly with customers. Their feedback helped her understand what people valued and where she needed to improve.

There were mistakes, moments of uncertainty, and plenty of unfamiliar situations. Yet, each experience became an opportunity to develop a new skill.

Looking back, Shilpi recognises that she did not need to have every answer before beginning. What mattered was the courage to take the first step and the willingness to keep learning.

Her entrepreneurial journey carries an important message: there is no fixed age for starting something new. Sometimes, a new chapter begins when we allow ourselves to step outside our comfort zone and become beginners once again.

The Early Chapters That Shaped Her Outlook on Life

Long before CureitHerb came into existence, Shilpi had experienced several life-changing chapters that influenced her outlook on personal growth, wellness, and spirituality.

In 2000, while pursuing her master's degree in business, she was selected for an exchange programme that took her to Kent State University in Ohio, USA. Spending approximately four months studying in a different country gave her the opportunity to experience a new environment and broaden her perspective.

Years later, motherhood brought another profound chapter into her life. During her second pregnancy, she faced a particularly difficult period that required almost two and a half months of complete bed rest. Even basic activities had to be carried out with assistance, and her husband took care of her daily needs throughout that time.

The experience demanded patience, faith, and determination. It also gave her a deeper appreciation for the importance of family support and the strength that can emerge during challenging circumstances.

After the birth of her second daughter, at the age of 32, Shilpi was diagnosed with thyroid problems and was informed that her TSH levels were very high. While her doctors advised medication, her father, who had a strong interest in yoga, encouraged her to practise specific yoga asanas regularly.

She followed his guidance and, when she repeated her tests about a month later, her TSH levels had returned to the normal range, according to her account. The experience strengthened her interest in yoga, fitness, and holistic wellness.

It became the beginning of a personal journey that gradually influenced both her lifestyle and the philosophy behind her future business. She became increasingly interested in the relationship between everyday habits, traditional practices, and overall well-being.

Her experience is a personal account and not a substitute for medical advice or prescribed treatment. Nevertheless, it marked an important turning point in how she approached health and natural living.

Moving to Dubai: Building a Business Across Borders

Just as CureitHerb was beginning to find its footing, Shilpi faced another major transition. Approximately one and a half years after starting the brand, her husband decided to move to Dubai to build a new life.

Wanting to be beside him and support him during this important phase, Shilpi made the decision to move as well. However, leaving Delhi presented a new challenge: how could she continue running a young Indian business while living in another country?

The brand was still in its early stages, and its operations depended heavily on her personal involvement. She now had to identify reliable people, delegate responsibilities, establish systems, and learn to manage the business remotely.

These were skills she had never needed in the same way before. Building a dependable team required patience, experimentation, and several rounds of trial and error.

Gradually, with the support of her family and team, the business developed a working structure. Her mother-in-law began helping with deliveries, while the kitchen staff continued preparing the products at home. An administrative team took responsibility for packaging, online orders, deliveries, and website operations. She also arranged support for social media and backend requirements, including GST-related administration.

Today, Shilpi travels between Dubai and Delhi approximately every three to four months, balancing her responsibilities in India with her family life abroad.

The transition has also opened up new possibilities. Friends and family in Dubai have shown interest in CureitHerb's products and regularly request them, encouraging her to explore the brand's potential in a new market.

For Shilpi, this chapter has been a lesson in adapting to changing circumstances. First, she learned to become an entrepreneur. Then, she learned to manage a business from another country. Now, she is exploring how the brand might gradually establish a presence beyond India.

She acknowledges the role of faith, family support, and the people who have helped her along the way. Her experience has taught her that progress does not always require having a perfect plan from the beginning. Sometimes, it comes from taking the next step, learning from experience, and allowing the right systems and relationships to develop over time.

Beyond Products: A Deeper Connection with Ancient Wisdom

While CureitHerb remains central to Shilpi’s entrepreneurial journey, her larger vision extends beyond natural products. She wants to encourage people to reconnect with traditional Indian knowledge and develop a more holistic approach to everyday living.

An important part of this vision is her interest in Sanskrit chanting, shlokas, and stotrams. Her spiritual journey deepened when she began learning to chant the Bhagavad Gita. What initially started as a personal practice gradually became something she wanted to share with others.

Shilpi began teaching Gita chanting and encouraging people to explore the beauty of Sanskrit verses, their rhythm, and their place in daily life. For her, chanting is not simply about memorising verses; it is also an opportunity to cultivate stillness, concentration, and a deeper connection with oneself.

She hopes to make these ancient traditions more accessible to people who wish to incorporate them into their modern routines. Through chanting and meditation, she wants to encourage others to set aside time for reflection and explore practices that may support their sense of mental and emotional well-being.

This interest complements her philosophy of natural living. Whether through traditional ingredients, mindful habits, yoga, or spiritual practices, she believes there is value in revisiting the wisdom that has been passed down through generations.

Her larger purpose is to bring these different dimensions of well-being together, encouraging people to care for the body, nurture the mind, and create space for spiritual growth.

A Vision for the Future

Shilpi Gupta dreams of making CureitHerb one of the leading brands offering accessible, ready-to-use solutions for holistic living. She wants to bring people closer to the traditional ingredients and natural practices that can become part of their everyday routines.

Her ambition is not limited to expanding a product range or building a business. She also hopes to preserve and share the beauty of Sanskrit chanting, making ancient shlokas and stotrams easier for people to discover and practise in contemporary life.

At the heart of her vision is the belief that wholesome living should be practical, meaningful, and connected to the world around us. She wants to inspire people to make thoughtful choices, rediscover traditional knowledge, and develop a deeper appreciation for nature and its resources.

From studying abroad and experiencing the challenges of motherhood to exploring yoga, becoming an entrepreneur at 45, managing a business across countries, and teaching Sanskrit chanting, every chapter has contributed to the person she is today.

Her journey demonstrates that a person's aspirations do not have to remain confined to one role or one stage of life. A homemaker can become an entrepreneur. A personal interest can grow into a business. A family tradition can inspire products that reach beyond the home. And a personal spiritual practice can become a way of connecting with others.

For Shilpi, CureitHerb is both a business and an extension of a deeply held philosophy: that nature, traditional knowledge, and mindful living deserve a meaningful place in the modern world.

As she continues to nurture her brand in India and explore opportunities in Dubai, her focus remains on creating something that reflects her values and serves a larger purpose.

Her story is ultimately about beginning with what you know, staying open to what you can learn, and allowing your life's experiences to shape a vision that continues to grow.
