Sushmita Dutta – Crafting Strength and Poetry from Life Experiences

Some people write poetry.

Others live it first—and only then allow it to spill onto the page.

Sushmita Dutta belongs to the second kind.

Her poems do not feel imagined; they feel remembered. Each line carries the warmth of a lived moment, the ache of loss, the quiet courage of endurance, and the unmistakable grace of someone who has chosen hope again and again. Poetry, for Sushmita, has never been a hobby—it has been a companion. A witness. A place to hold emotions when life felt too full to contain them otherwise.

She began writing at the age of fourteen, instinctively turning to words to preserve fleeting feelings and tender truths. Years later, she would realize that while life had changed her circumstances many times, her understanding of human relationships—love, dignity, resilience—had remained constant. Her poetry grew deeper, but its core stayed honest.

The absence of her parents is a quiet presence in her life—felt, not spoken loudly. Their values, humility, and strength guide every step she takes. She honors them not just in memory, but in action, in belief, and in verse. Their voices echo through her work, reminding her—and her readers—that even loss can become a source of grounding.

Sushmita describes herself as bubbly yet emotional, tender yet strong, grounded yet endlessly hopeful. These contrasts are not contradictions—they are her truth. Life has tested her early and often: through youth, marriage, single parenthood, and the profound experience of standing alone. There were moments when she asked, why me? Until one day, she found peace in a powerful realization—perhaps life challenged her because it trusted her strength.

Her mother’s words—“Never say I can’t”—became a lifelong mantra. Sushmita learned to try before fearing results, to give her hundred percent and let outcomes follow. Success and failure, achievement and loss—she learned to value them all, understanding that without contrast, life loses meaning.

True to her belief that one must attempt many paths to discover their true calling, Sushmita explored life boldly. She trained in athletics, earning medals and absorbing the discipline, endurance, and sportsmanship that would later shape her character. She stepped onto the ramp as a model, walking with confidence for renowned brands—challenging herself, refining her presence, and redefining self-belief. Her journey earned her titles including Mrs. Nagpur (First Runner-Up), Mrs. Photogenic, Mrs. Vidarbha (Runner-Up), and a subtitle at Mrs. India Asia International.

Yet, behind every title stood a woman deeply rooted in purpose. A self-made individual, Sushmita built her career with determination and dignity, achieving financial independence while being both mother and mentor to her only daughter—ensuring she would have the freedom to choose her own dreams. A lover of pets and an avid traveler, her curiosity for life remains vibrant and unshaken.

Professionally, Sushmita brings over 20 years of experience across operations, training, and administration. As a Certified Soft Skills Trainer and NLP Coach, she facilitates learning not from theory alone, but from real-life scenarios. Her strength lies in guiding students and professionals through communication, grooming, etiquette, mindset, and personal growth—helping them transform not just how they work, but how they see themselves.

Her contributions to literature and art have been widely recognized. Her poems and articles have appeared in magazines, newspapers, and even echoed through All India Radio’s Yuvvani. She has trekked challenging ranges with the National Adventure Foundation, participated in international poetry forums, and received numerous accolades—most notably the 21st Century Emily Dickinson Award (2025) for her poetry collection Whispers of Emotion.

Whispers of Emotion is not a book to be read quickly. It is a book to be sat with. Each poem is a soft conversation with memory—exploring love, loss, longing, healing, and the strange beauty of simply existing. The collection moves like light through windows: sharp with childhood memories, rain-streaked with grief, golden with rediscovered hope. These poems do not instruct; they accompany. They remind readers that they are not alone.

“A book is a house,” Sushmita believes, “and each poem, a window.” What readers see through those windows becomes deeply personal—an echo of their own journey.

Looking ahead, Sushmita dreams without hesitation. She hopes to write motivational books rooted in lived experience, to step into the creative media world, to inspire from both page and screen, and to continue releasing poetry that mirrors the human soul. Learning, for her, is endless. Growth is ongoing. Faith remains steady.

At the heart of everything she does lies a simple, profound belief:

Accept life as it comes. Never doubt your capability. Never say never. Defeat without trying is the only true end.

Her journey—etched in resilience, humility, and grace—stands as quiet proof that even through trials, the human spirit can shine.

And in her words, it does.
