Swapnali Mahesh Mastud: From Software Engineer to Mrs. INDIA FACE 2026 - A Journey of Dreams and Determination
An engineer, business analyst, mother, and fashion model, Swapnali Mahesh Mastud is proving that dreams do not have an expiry date. At 35, she is building a remarkable identity in pageantry while continuing to excel in her professional and academic life.
The Dreams That Waited for Their Time
Some dreams begin in childhood but remain tucked away for years, waiting for the right moment to come alive. For Swapnali Mahesh Mastud, a passion for fashion, modelling, acting, dance, and music was present from an early age. She was fascinated by Kathak, wanted to explore acting, and dreamed of learning to play the guitar. However, growing up in an environment where academics were given priority, she never got the opportunity to pursue these interests.
The fashion and pageant industry also appeared difficult to enter. During the time when she first developed an interest in modelling, conventional expectations around body size and height often seemed like barriers to participation. At home, these pursuits were not encouraged, and her attention remained focused on education.
Swapnali completed her schooling at Indian Education Society, Bhandup, followed by junior college at Ramaanand Arya D.A.V. College, Bhandup. She was also a Taekwondo practitioner and earned an orange belt. Although she initially aspired to become a gynaecologist, life eventually led her towards engineering.
She secured admission to Satara College of Engineering and Management through the university allotment process. With this, another chapter began, and her childhood dreams moved further into the background.
Yet, the passion never truly disappeared.
Building a Career Through Determination
After completing her engineering degree, Swapnali faced one of the first major challenges of her professional life: overcoming her fear of interviews. The process of finding a job was difficult, and she often struggled with nervousness. However, an opportunity to attend an offline interview at a college in Pune became a turning point.
She appeared for the interview, cleared the rounds, and secured a position at Zensar Technologies in Kharadi, Pune. It was an achievement she had not initially expected, and it marked the beginning of her corporate journey.
Moving to Pune meant adapting to a new city and professional environment, but her determination helped her establish herself. She spent 11 years and six months at Zensar Technologies, experiencing the challenges, responsibilities, and learning opportunities that come with a long corporate career.
Beginning as a Junior Software Engineer, she gradually progressed and became a Senior Software Engineer in 2021, after the birth of her daughter. Alongside her professional responsibilities, she continued to invest in her education and completed an MBA in Project Management and Finance in 2023.
Her career was marked by hard work and appreciation for her contributions, even when formal recognition did not always match her expectations. For years, from 2014 to 2025, she continued working, learning, and fulfilling her responsibilities, while the dream of entering the fashion industry remained unfulfilled.
In November 2025, she joined Cisco Systems in Bengaluru, opening another chapter in her professional journey. Her dedication, sincerity, and commitment to work earned recognition from her manager, reinforcing her belief that consistent effort creates opportunities for growth.
But something else was beginning to change. She was finally ready to invest in the dream she had postponed for years.
The Courage to Begin at 35
As Swapnali watched others participate in pageants and achieve recognition, a question gradually became impossible to ignore: if they could pursue their dreams, why couldn't she?
She knew she had talent. What she needed was the courage to take the first step.
For years, her priorities had followed a familiar order: complete school, finish college, earn an engineering degree, secure a job, get married, and become a mother. Yet, even after fulfilling these milestones, she had not found a way to pursue her childhood aspirations.
Eventually, she decided that waiting for the perfect moment would only delay her dream further.
Her first pageant appearance came in March 2025. She entered the competition with a simple thought: whether she won or lost, she would gain experience. She did not know what to expect, but she was willing to try.
When the results were announced, she was named the second runner-up at Fashion Icon Mrs. Koregaon 2025, presented by PJ Group.
It was her first trophy, and the feeling was unforgettable. The moment brought a new sense of confidence and opened the door to possibilities she had once considered beyond her reach.
For Swapnali, the trophy represented far more than a competition result. It was proof that she could step beyond her fears and give herself the opportunity she had long desired.
Learning, Losing, and Returning Stronger
Success did not arrive without setbacks. In November 2025, Swapnali participated in Sataryachi Samranye, where she received the subtitle of Best Smile, presented by actor Rajneish Duggal.
Although she did not win the main title, the experience taught her an important lesson about the emotional demands of pageantry. There were moments when disappointment affected her confidence, and she questioned whether the effort was worth it.
However, she did not allow one result to define her journey.
In 2026, she returned to the stage with renewed determination and participated in Mrs. Maharashtra 2026, organised by Inspiron Production. This time, she was announced as the second runner-up.
The result helped restore her confidence and strengthened her belief that every experience, whether a win or a setback, had something valuable to teach her.
She also participated in The Crown Legacy of India Runway 2026, where she received a trophy, certificate, and crown associated with recognition in the Asian Book of World Records and the Dadasaheb Phalke International Cine Award. This milestone added another dimension to her growing presence in the fashion and modelling space.
Soon after, she participated in Mrs. SUPERMODEL 2026, organised by Sparkling Glam Events. She received the Best Personality subtitle from Miss Global Shemonyl Wankadia and was featured in Slicks Magazine.
Each appearance brought a new experience, a fresh opportunity, and a stronger sense of belonging in an industry she had once admired from a distance.
The Crown That Changed Everything
One of the most significant milestones in Swapnali's journey came when she participated in Mrs. INDIA FACE 2026, organised by HDA Production and SR IT Junction.
This time, she was not simply participating to gain experience. She had grown through multiple competitions, learned to handle the pressure of the stage, and developed greater confidence in her abilities.
When the results were announced, she emerged as the winner of Mrs. INDIA FACE 2026.
She was felicitated by Marathi actress Prarthana and presented with the Star Fashion and Modeling Award.
For a woman who had spent years believing that her interests might never become a reality, the achievement was deeply meaningful. The title represented the courage to start, the willingness to learn, and the determination to continue even when the path seemed uncertain.
The recognition also brought unexpected professional opportunities. Soon after her win, Calista Productions contacted her with an invitation to serve as a pre-finale jury member for Miss and Mrs. Calista India 2026. She was also informed about a planned feature in Calista Magazine and a felicitation by Bollywood actress Ameesha Patel on 4 October 2026.
The invitation to evaluate other participants marked a new stage in her journey. She was no longer only competing for recognition; she was also being considered for a role in the pageant community.
Recognition Beyond the Runway
Swapnali's achievements have extended beyond pageant titles and magazine features. Her journey has brought her recognition across business analytics, fashion leadership, and women's empowerment.
Swapnali's achievements extend beyond the runway, earning her recognition in business analytics, fashion leadership, and women's empowerment. She received the Maharashtra Spotlight Award 2026 in the Excellence in Business Analytics and Fashion Leadership Award categories at an award function associated with India Republic Times. She was also honoured with the Bharat Bhushan Puruskar 2026 and received a certificate of appreciation from Jivran Foundation. Adding to her accomplishments, she received the Maharashtra Excellence Award 2026, presented by India Live 24, Kolhapur, in the presence of actress Purneima Dey. Her contributions and growing presence in the fashion industry also earned her the recognition of Women Change Maker of the Year and the title Fashion Model of the Year from She Inspire Magazine. Furthermore, Diva Planet Magazine selected her for the Nari Ratna Award 2026 and Style Icon Award 2026 in the Outstanding Fashion Model of the Year category. Her profile was also shortlisted for a national award in the modelling category by Forever Star India Awards (FSIA), where she was crowned the winner representing Satara City in the respective category and received the Super Woman Award 2026. Beyond her professional and modelling achievements, Swapnali is also a donor to UNICEF India, reflecting her association with a cause dedicated to children's well-being.
These recognitions reflect the expanding range of opportunities that have emerged since she decided to pursue modelling seriously. At the same time, her professional identity as a business analyst remains an important part of her life.
A Mother First, a Dreamer Always
Behind every crown, professional milestone, and academic achievement is a woman balancing multiple responsibilities.
Swapnali is a working professional with more than 12 years of experience as a Business Analyst. She is also a homemaker, a wife, a student, and, most importantly in her own words, a mother.
Her daughter, who was five and a half years old at the time of her account, occupies a special place in her journey. Swapnali describes her as the person who changed everything in her life.
She credits her daughter's presence as a source of motivation behind the positive changes she has experienced, including professional growth, salary increments, and her achievements in pageantry. She dedicates her success to her daughter, whom she considers her greatest source of encouragement.
Her love for her child has also inspired her to explore opportunities that allow them to learn and participate together. In a Mom and Me contest, the two worked on the theme of global warming and presented their ideas creatively through an activity involving art or costume. Although they did not win a title, they received a gift hamper.
For Swapnali, the experience was valuable in itself. It gave her an opportunity to share a meaningful activity with her daughter and demonstrate that learning, creativity, and participation matter beyond trophies.
She also acknowledges her mother as the backbone of her journey. The support and encouragement of her family have remained significant as she continues to balance professional commitments, motherhood, and her ambitions.
Education Never Took a Back Seat
While many might assume that entering pageantry would require putting other ambitions on hold, Swapnali has continued to pursue academic and professional development.
After completing her MBA in Project Management and Finance in 2023, she enrolled in a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme at Dunster Business School, Switzerland.
She also appeared for a law examination and passed with a reported percentile score of 77.29. Her admission process was still underway at the time of sharing her story.
Her continued interest in learning reflects a belief that personal development need not end after securing a degree or establishing a career. Instead, it can remain an ongoing part of life, regardless of age or professional responsibilities.
For Swapnali, education, corporate growth, and modelling are not competing identities. They are different expressions of the same desire to keep progressing.
The Woman Behind the Transformation
Swapnali's journey has not been about abandoning one identity to create another. It has been about allowing different parts of herself to exist together.
She is the engineering graduate who overcame interview anxiety to build a corporate career. She is the business analyst who continued learning while taking on new responsibilities. She is the mother who dedicates her achievements to her daughter. And she is the woman who finally stepped onto a pageant stage at 35 and discovered that a long-postponed dream could still become a reality.
Her story also carries a personal transformation. Before marriage, she was known as Swapnali Subhash Jamdade; after marriage, she became Swapnali Mahesh Mastud. Across the different chapters of her life, her ambitions continued to evolve, but her determination to make something meaningful of her abilities remained.
The past 1.6 years of her pageantry journey have brought her experiences and recognition she once could only imagine. Yet, her story is not simply about the number of titles she has received. It is about the decision to begin despite uncertainty, to continue after disappointment, and to believe that personal aspirations deserve a place alongside family and professional responsibilities.
A Dream That Refused to Disappear
Looking back, Swapnali recognises how difficult it was to pursue her dream, especially when it meant going against the expectations of elders and stepping outside the familiar boundaries of her life.
But she stood firm.
Her journey demonstrates that the path to fulfilment does not always begin when we are young, nor does it always follow a straight line. Sometimes, it begins after years of waiting, after responsibilities have accumulated, and after we have convinced ourselves that an opportunity may no longer be meant for us.
Swapnali chose to challenge that belief.
At 35, she is continuing to build her career, pursue higher education, participate in pageantry, and explore new opportunities. Her story is a reminder that ambition can grow alongside motherhood, that learning can continue alongside work, and that a dream does not lose its value simply because it takes time to pursue.
For Swapnali Mahesh Mastud, the crown is not the end of the journey. It is a symbol of the moment she finally gave herself permission to begin.
Her message is simple: when there is a will, there is a way. And sometimes, the dream you postponed for years is the very dream that helps you discover who you are capable of becoming.
