From a Grandmother’s Dream to a Young Vaidya’s Purpose: The Journey of Vd. Gaurav Govil
Some dreams begin with ambition. Others are planted in our hearts by the people who believe in us long before we learn to believe in ourselves.
For Vd. Gaurav Govil, the dream of becoming a doctor began with his grandmother.
Since childhood, he had seen her dream of watching him become a doctor one day. Her belief became his earliest source of inspiration and eventually shaped the direction of his life. Although she is no longer with him, Gaurav continues to carry her blessings and her dream with him.

Today, as an Ayurvedic practitioner and young professional, he remains committed to becoming the kind of Vaidya she always envisioned.
For Gaurav, Ayurveda is not simply a profession. It is a responsibility to preserve knowledge, serve people sincerely, and carry forward a system of healing rooted in centuries of wisdom.
Finding Strength in the Roots of Ayurveda
The journey of becoming an Ayurvedic doctor comes with its own set of challenges. Among the biggest challenges Gaurav has experienced is maintaining the authenticity of Ayurveda while working in a healthcare environment increasingly influenced by modern medicine.
Limited resources and the need to understand the relationship between classical Ayurvedic knowledge and modern healthcare have also been important parts of his learning journey.
Instead of seeing these challenges as limitations, Gaurav chose to strengthen his foundation.
He dedicated himself to studying authentic Samhitas, seeking guidance from experienced teachers and participating in hands-on training sessions, expos and webinars. His mentors, including Vd. Uday Talhar Sir, Vd. Ashutosh Sir and Vd. Shilpi J. Bose Ma’am, have played an important role in strengthening his understanding and encouraging him to stay connected to the roots of Ayurveda.
For him, learning Ayurveda means going back to its authentic sources while continuously developing the ability to apply that knowledge in today's healthcare environment.
The Early Years of a Young Vaidya
Gaurav began his professional journey as a BAMS student at Sanskriti Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital in 2023.
The early stage of his journey was filled with learning curves. One of his initial challenges was understanding the language and depth of the classical Samhitas. The texts demanded patience, regular study and guidance.
With consistent effort and support from his teachers, he gradually became more comfortable with the classical foundations of Ayurveda.
At the same time, he had to develop a balance between classical knowledge and modern medical understanding. Building clinical confidence was another important step.
These experiences taught him that becoming a good Vaidya requires more than academic knowledge. It demands continuous learning, observation, discipline and the willingness to learn from those who have walked the path before.
The guidance of his gurus helped him face these challenges and strengthened his confidence as he continued developing his professional identity.
Building a Future Around Ayurveda
Gaurav's ambitions extend beyond his own professional growth.
His larger vision is to promote Ayurveda and make authentic knowledge and services accessible to people who need them. He wants to serve society with genuine care and develop his own Ayurvedic hospital where patients can receive the best possible treatment.
For him, the ultimate purpose is simple - to use his knowledge to serve people and contribute meaningfully to the growth of Ayurveda.
His vision is also closely connected to his desire to preserve the authenticity of the discipline while introducing it to a wider generation.
Achievements That Mark His Journey
Despite being at an early stage of his career, Gaurav has already become associated with several notable initiatives and achievements.
He received the Youngest Entrepreneur of the Year 2026 Award, recognising his contribution and entrepreneurial journey at a young age.
In 2024, he was also part of world-record initiatives organised by Ayurgange Foundation, involving the participation of doctors and medical students in performing Yogya Vidhi of Viddhakarma treatment and Yogya Vidhi of Agnikarma treatment.
His involvement with Ayurgange Foundation has also extended into organising and supporting large-scale professional initiatives.
As a team member, Gaurav was involved in organising Amritkalp 2.0, which brought together a gathering of around 2,000 Vaidyas. He has also been part of organising several training programmes, including Atha Karyashala, creating opportunities for learning and professional development within the Ayurvedic community.
These experiences have given him exposure not only to clinical and academic aspects of Ayurveda but also to professional networking, event management, training and community building.
A Dream Still in Progress
For Gaurav, the journey is far from complete.
Behind his professional ambitions is a deeply personal promise - to fulfil the dream his grandmother once had for him.
He wants to become a good Vaidya, serve people with genuine knowledge, strengthen the reach of Ayurveda and eventually build an Ayurvedic hospital dedicated to helping those in need.
His journey reflects the story of a young professional who is learning from ancient knowledge while preparing himself for the demands of the modern world.
And as he continues forward, the blessings of the grandmother who first dreamed of seeing him as a doctor remain an important part of his journey.
For Vd. Gaurav Govil, becoming a Vaidya is not just about earning a title. It is about carrying forward a dream, protecting a tradition and dedicating his knowledge to the service of people.
